Accounting Manager

Senior Accountant | North Chicago Sub | Up to $100,000 + Benefits

We’re seeking a Senior Accountant to oversee core financial functions including reporting, audits, tax compliance, budgeting, fixed assets, and treasury management. This role is highly visible, partnering across operations, retail, and fuel teams while ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and transparency.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with GAAP.

• Lead the company-wide budgeting process and provide financial guidance across business channels.

• Manage fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, and reconciliations.

• Direct the external audit process, ensuring timely deliverables and implementation of findings.

• Coordinate with external tax firms on corporate income tax filings; prepare and submit monthly tax returns.

• Monitor daily cash flow, oversee fund transfers, and forecast liquidity needs.

• Strengthen internal controls and maintain processes that protect company assets and data integrity.

• Partner with business leaders to deliver insights that drive performance and strategic decisions.

• Support month-end close activities, reconciliations, and ad hoc projects as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience; retail industry background preferred.

• Strong knowledge of GAAP, tax compliance, and core accounting principles.

• Proficiency in accounting software (PDI preferred) and advanced Excel skills.

• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication abilities.

• Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
