Senior Financial Reporting Accountant
Job Title: Senior Financial Reporting Accountant
Location: Hybrid - Chicago
Salary Range: $100,000 to $115,000 + Bonus & Benefits
Our client, a well-established public company in Chicago, is seeking a Senior Financial Reporting Accountant to join their external reporting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with Big 4 or large national firm experience who is looking to transition into industry or advance their SEC reporting career.
About the Role
In this role, you will play a key part in the preparation and review of the company’s SEC filings, including 10-Qs, 10-Ks, earnings releases, proxies, and 8-Ks. You’ll also gain exposure to technical accounting research, internal controls, and cross-functional collaboration with business partners and external auditors. The position is hybrid, offering the flexibility of working both in-office and remotely.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare and assist in the review of quarterly and annual SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K, Proxy, 8-K, and earnings release).

Support SOX 404 documentation and testing related to external reporting.

Conduct technical accounting research and prepare supporting memos.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams and serve as a liaison with external auditors.

Assist in drafting, updating, and implementing accounting policies and procedures.
What You’ll Bring

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

3+ years of public accounting experience (Big 4 or major national firm) or SEC reporting experience within a public company.

Strong understanding of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.

Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines.

Advanced Excel skills and strong attention to detail.

CPA license or progress toward CPA preferred.

Experience with Workiva or similar financial reporting tools a plus.
