Job Title: Accounting Specialist
Location: Elk Grove Village, IL (onsite)
Pay Range: $25-$28/hr

Role Overview:
Brilliant Financial Staffing has been engaged in the search for an Accounting Specialist for our client located in Elk Grove Village, IL. The client, a Chicagoland based HVAC firm, is looking for an Accounting Specialist to join them on a short term contract basis as they build out their shared services team. This role is fully in office, and reports to the Controller.

Responsibilities:

• Handle and post daily cash receipts.
• Manage misapplied & unapplied payments, as well as short/over payments.
• Assist with credit card reconciliations.
• Perform soft collections via email to reduce Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) for both the Construction and Service sides of the business.
• Process 15-20 invoices daily in a 2-way match environment.
• Work with unique AP invoicing & purchase orders, ensuring alignment across multi-month projects.
• Communicate effectively to resolve discrepancies in invoices, short payments, and overpayments.
• Prepare AP accruals in Excel for management.
• Support payment runs by exporting batch checks to Corcentric.

• Experience in both AP & AR – a must-have!
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Comfort working with ERP/accounting systems
• Intermediate Excel skills for reporting (e.g., aging reports, collections notes).
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, growing environment and contribute to process improvements.
