Role Overview:
Brilliant Financial Staffing has been engaged on the search for a Staff Accountant to join our client located in Vernon Hills, IL on a contract to hire basis. Our client is a well-established provider of petroleum, and they currently have experienced growth and are looking to add an experienced Staff Accountant to their department. The Staff Accountant will report to the Accounting Manager and work alongside a team of 6 individuals. The ideal Staff Accountant will be able to begin immediately.

Brilliant Financial Staffing has been engaged on the search for a Staff Accountant to join our client located in Vernon Hills, IL on a contract to hire basis. Our client is a well-established provider of petroleum, and they currently have experienced growth and are looking to add an experienced Staff Accountant to their department. The Staff Accountant will report to the Accounting Manager and work alongside a team of 6 individuals. The ideal Staff Accountant will be able to begin immediately.
Staff Accountant Responsibilities:
- Manage fuel deliveries, credit card processing, customer EFTs, and other retail and banking transactions on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Reconcile credit card transactions for various oil companies and store locations.
- Serve as the main point of contact for oil & fuel vendor reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist with month-end close processes, working toward a more efficient 7-day close cycle.
- Prepare and review accounting reports for accuracy and auditing purposes.
- Assist with store and car wash paperwork and ensure compliance with financial controls.
- Process journal entries related to credit card transactions.
- Support bank reconciliations and be trained as a backup resource.
- Handle customer chargebacks and work cross-functionally to resolve accounting discrepancies.
Staff Accountant Qualifications:
- 4+ years of accounting experience
- ERP system experience
- Experience working for a company with $100M+ in revenue
- Strong Excel skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
