Senior Accountant – Accounting & Financial Reporting
$90,000 to $115,000 + Bonus DOE

Are you an experienced accountant ready to make an impact? We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Chicago-based team and support daily accounting, financial reporting, and audit and tax compliance. Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, this role will contribute to accurate and timely financial operations and play a key part in driving sustainable growth and strategic planning.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review journal entries for revenue recognition, operating expenses, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and billing.
  • Assist with monthly and annual financial close processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Collaborate with project finance teams, lenders, and investors to coordinate capital raises.
  • Work with operations teams to ensure proper accounting throughout the lifecycle of development projects, active construction, and operational assets.
  • Support intercompany eliminations and consolidated reporting for multiple subsidiaries, including audit and tax purposes.
  • Partner with auditors and tax preparers to ensure timely filing of audit reports and tax returns.
  • Mentor and train junior staff accountants, fostering growth and development.
  • Assist in implementing accounting policies and monitor team processes for opportunities to improve efficiency.
  • Research and interpret data to address accounting and financial questions.
  • Lead accounting team initiatives with a focus on consistent practices and adherence to standards.
  • Develop and execute continuous improvement initiatives, including enhancements to the NetSuite ERP system.
  • Analyze and communicate financial trends to support strategy development and problem-solving.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
  • Minimum of five years of accounting experience.
  • Experience in renewable energy or construction/manufacturing industries (job cost and percentage-of-completion accounting) preferred.
  • CPA designation and public accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience with NetSuite ERP, including journal entry posting, transaction management, and report generation, is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Solid analytical skills to identify trends, develop strategies, and solve problems.
